I like Portrait work to have character without any compromise to what is flattering. I like portraits to be as casual as possible without losing shape. I like my work to be believable.

Yes, I have awards too, however, what I prefer to talk about is how much I enjoy making family portrait work, that includes Mum and Dad.

The people I have captured in my Portraits are everyday New Zealanders (admittedly some are well known). If you own a piece of my work, I consider this to be my privilege and I appreciate your custom. I take it as your endorsement – thank you.

Born in 1963 to Christchurch parents, I opened my first studio in 1985 at the age of 22. I now have two studios, one in Christchurch and the second in Rotorua. My studios have large indoor camera rooms. Portraits with character that look just as if they were made outside are created in my camera room. Snow, rain, wind or harsh sunlight are not a problem for me. I have full control.

What you see is handmade portrait photography where most of the work takes place after the shooting and is carried out by New Zealanders – that have met you. That’s us.

Perhaps, one day soon, I could make a portrait for you.
